Wedding Coordinator or Wedding Planner? A Personal Story
Many brides are confused about whether to hire a wedding planner or to use the wedding coordinator at the selected venue. I chatted with Maureen Chandler of Blush Bridal Boutique about her personal experiences with this decision. This is her story.
I was one of those brides that dreamed about my wedding all my life. I knew what kind of dress I wanted, how the cake would look and the perfect decorations for my “perfect day.” I was told for months leading up to our wedding that I needed to hire a planner or a day-of coordinator. Nine years later, I still regret not taking that advice. I had an event coordinator on-site and had done all the planning myself so I thought everything was under control.
Like many couples, when we chose our reception site, we were led to believe that our event coordinator was there to help us plan our wedding, and, he was, but only for the venue itself. We did not take into consideration the other vendors that were booked: photographer, florist, limo service, band, decorator, baker, etc.
Bliss Collection Honors: Washingtonian Bride and Groom
The members of The Bliss Collection are always so proud when other hard working members are acknowledged for their excellence!
Washingtonian Bride and Groom has listed some of our beloved members in its latest issue! Why exactly is this an important honor?
According to wedding planner Myrna Hyman, “I found out that one finds themselves on this list based on votes from colleagues in the industry, which I think is pretty special.”
Miles Stiebel of MSE productions added ” MSE Productions is listed in the most recent 2012 Washingtonian Bride & Groom under Music & Entertainment. MSE Productions has been recommended by the Washingtonian as “One of the Best” for over ten years. This publication has become a fabulous resource for brides and grooms planning their wedding.”
So…which members of The Bliss Collection were listed?

Bliss Collection Meeting
The Bliss Collection had a fantastic meeting this past week. Nina Tisara, of Hollin Hall, played host to the meeting, and we all got a tour of the beautiful grounds. Kristi Odom, of Kristi Odom Photography, also gave a presentation of her work. All her photos are gorgeous and it was great to see close up shots of lions and elephants mixed in with the brides and grooms that she’s captured.
Thank you to all the guests who attended:

Bliss Stages Wedding at Stonewall
The Bliss Collection recently staged a fake wedding. Why, you might ask yourself, would we spend time and money providing services for a wedding that was not real? Well, we all get to work with each other on a wedding here and an event there, but we simply can’t all work on the same event in the real world. So we staged one!
This was an opportunity for all of the vendors on The Bliss Collection to work together on one event at one time. Alexander Morozov and David Madison, our photographers, and Jessica Piscitelli, our videographer, also covered the event so we could share the details of what it looks like when we do all work together to put on an elegant wedding event. More photos and video coming soon!

Women in Weddings
The women of Bliss made a great showing at this month’s Women in Weddings meeting, at Stonewall Golf Club.
Jessica Piscitelli, of Jessica Pi Productions, Myrna Grossman, of For All Occasions, and Mary Supley Foxworth, of MallowDrama were in attendance. Christi Lopez, of Bergeron’s Flowers & Events was one of the sponsors of the event, and provided a beautiful Fall bouquet for each table. Jessica and Myrna were lucky enough to each win a bouquet in the drawing at the end of the lunch!
Women in Weddings is a monthly luncheon for, well, for women in the wedding industry. It’s a great place to network, and to learn more about some trends in the wedding industry. Jeanna Hilton, of Stonewall Country Club, hosts women in weddings. The venue, food, presentations, and the company are always top notch.
